Friday Stableford is a nine-hole, team competition with a minimum of three and a maximum of four players. This is one of the most popular competition at the Deep River Golf Club and is played every Friday from dawn to dusk, weather permitting. Players can play as many 9-hole rounds as they like, with whomever they like, if tee times are available.
Each player on a team of 3 or 4, uses his 18-hole Handicap Index to determine the number of points needed to have a score of zero points. The objective is to have the highest score. The player’s score is calculated by subtracting his total score minus his 9-hole handicap based on his current 18-hole Handicap Index on the tees being played. All the player scores on each team are added together to determine a team score.
The number of points awarded on each hole is determined based on comparison of the number of strokes taken to a fixed score (par). At the end of the 9-hole round, the number of points scored on each hole is totaled to give a final score. The winner of the competition is the team with the highest point total.
9-Hole Handicap = ((Handicap Index / 2) x (9-Hole Slope Rating / 113)) + (9-Hole Course Rating) - (9-Hole Par)
Points Needed = (9 x (Points for Par)) - (9-Hole Handicap)
